What is Invisalign® treatment?

If you are looking to straighten your smile without the look and feel of traditional metal braces, Invisalign® treatment in Leicester offers a modern, discreet solution.
Unlike fixed braces, the Invisalign® system uses a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners that fit snugly over your teeth like a thin mouthguard. Because they are virtually invisible, most people won’t even notice you’re wearing them!

How can Invisalign® help?

Whether you’re looking to fix a lifelong insecurity or correct a shifting smile, Invisalign® treatment in Leicester is designed to handle a wide range of dental concerns. By using controlled, gentle pressure, these aligners do much more than just straighten teeth; they improve your overall oral health.

Common issues Invisalign® treatment can solve

Crowding: When there isn’t enough room in your jaw for all your teeth to fit normally, leading to overlapping.

Gaps (spacing): Closing extra spaces between teeth that can often trap food and irritate gums.

Bite issues: Helping to correct overbites, underbites, and crossbites, which can reduce unnecessary wear on your tooth enamel.

General misalignment: Simply moving teeth into a more symmetrical, aesthetically pleasing position.

How does it work?

Understanding your journey with Invisalign® treatment in Leicester is simple. Here is a streamlined breakdown of how we transform your smile:

Step 1. Your digital consultation

First, we assess your teeth using advanced 3D digital scans, no messy moulds required. This technology allows us to create a high-precision map of your mouth and show you a virtual “before and after” preview of your future smile.

Step 2. Your bespoke treatment plan

Using ClinCheck software, we design a step-by-step roadmap for your transformation. This plan outlines exactly how each tooth will move, giving you a clear timeline for your results.

Step 3. Gradual straightening

You will receive a series of custom-made, clear aligners. Wear each set for 1–2 weeks before moving to the next. Your teeth shift little by little, controlled by the precise timing of each aligner. We’ll see you every 6–8 weeks to monitor your progress and ensure everything is on track.

Step 4. Reveal your new smile

Once you finish your final set of aligners, your treatment is complete! To ensure your new smile stays perfectly in place, we will provide you with a final retainer for long-term maintenance.

Itero Digital Scanner

Our investment into digital dental technology, will make your treatment more comfortable, faster and less invasive

We are pleased to offer our patients the iTero Digital Scanner, an intraoral scanner which takes 3D images of your mouth and teeth within minutes and does away with the need for messy and uncomfortable impressions.

This dental technology helps us to reduce your time in the dental chair, allows us to take detailed images of your teeth and can even show you the potential results of future orthodontic treatment.

How it Works

The dentist will insert a small wand into your mouth and move it around for a few minutes. The handheld scanner captures thousands of pictures per second and all the data is sent to the attached computer. Within a short period of time a 3D replica of your teeth appears on screen, so we can see the precise position of your teeth and gums.

The 3D image is used for a variety of treatments such as fillings, inlays and onlays, crowns and bridgework. The scans are sent to the laboratory in place of traditional moulds and impressions.

The iTero scanner is especially helpful for Invisalign treatment. It not only gives us the exact positioning of each individual tooth, but it can also be used to show you the results of treatment before you even start wearing the aligners.

Benefits of the iTero Digital Scanner include:

  • No more unpleasant, messy impressions
  • Advanced technology allows us to see your teeth and mouth in clear detail
  • Reduced time in treatment chair
  • Less waste produced by practice as a whole due to reduction in dental impressions
  • No additional cost to experience an intraoral scan

Frequently Asked Questions

You may find it takes a few days to get used to the aligners, and may have a slight lisp at first, but you should be talking clearly and confidently before long.
Yes, Invisalign aligners have been designed with comfort in mind, enabling you to easily wear them for up to 22 hours a day. They fit snugly over the teeth and have no metal brackets or wires to irritate the skin.
You need to wear your aligners for around 22 hours a day for your treatment to be most effective. You can take them out for eating, drinking, brushing your teeth and playing contact sports.
The invisible braces are made from strong medical grade thermoplastic material, which has been uniquely developed for the Invisalign system.
If you lose one of your aligners, please contact us as soon as possible for further advice. In the meantime, you can wear an aligner from your previous set to prevent your teeth from moving too far out of line. We may also advise that you move straight onto your next set of aligners, depending on your individual case.
The cost of treatment depends on each individual case, with complex cases needing more aligners and therefore are more expensive. We can give you an exact treatment cost based on the examination and when we assess your teeth. We offer payment plans and finance options to help you spread the cost of treatment.
Treatment length varies from case to case, but most Invisalign treatments are completed in 9-18 months. Straightforward cases have a faster treatment time, whilst patients needing more complex straightening can expect to wear their aligners for longer. We can advise you of your expected treatment time after your initial consultation.
Yes, you will need to wear retainers to keep your teeth in their new positions following your Invisalign treatment. Teeth have a habit of moving out of place, so you will need to wear retainers on a part time basis (usually overnight) for as long as you wish your teeth to stay straight. You will be given fixed or removable retainers.
