Technology advancements in dentistry over the past few decades has seen more options become available to our patients. Dental implants have been clinically proven to be a safe and effective solution and with good maintenance and home care, dental implants may last for a lifetime.

Feel at ease with your decision

If you are looking for dental implants in Leicester, take the time to visit the team at Ralston Dental and Cosmetic Clinic and book a free consultation with our patient co-ordinator Karen. This will allow you to ensure that you feel comfortable and at ease with the clinic before any treatment plan is undertaken.

When are dental implants used?

Dental implants are a root-shaped bio compatible piece of titanium, which bonds permanently to the bone of the jaw and are an effective treatment for missing and decaying teeth.

The dental implants are small metal screws that are placed in the jaw to replace the missing tooth or teeth. At Ralston Dental and Cosmetic Clinic we use dental implants from Germany called the “Ankylos” implant system. Our cosmetic dentistry clinic in Leicester has been using this system for over 15 years and have had fantastic results.

The benefits of dental implants

One of the major concerns of lost, missing and decaying teeth is the ongoing health risks that can be caused by not treating the condition. It is not the cosmetic look of the lost tooth that is the major problem but the ongoing declining condition of gums, surrounding tissues and the jaw bone.

If left untreated, your jaw bone and surrounding tissues start to resorb or disappear over time when you lose your natural teeth. Dental implants stimulate the remaining bone to grow and mesh around the metal, along with tiny blood vessels, preventing bone loss.

This ensures that the bone structure is maintained and prevents the face from acquiring a sunken, sallow look.

After your treatment

Once your dental implants have been placed, after a short healing period, you should be able to eat, drink, chew and bite as usual.
