How dental implants are changing denture sufferers’ lives for the better

06-09-2016

If you are suffering with loose dentures, dental implants could be the answer to your prayers. At Ralston Dental and Cosmetic Clinic in Leicester we believe that they are, in the majority of cases, the best way of replacing lost teeth, giving you back all the freedom of a set of healthy adult teeth once more.

Denture stabilisation is a common dental implant-based treatment for patients who have lost all the natural teeth in one or both jaws, or whose natural teeth are failing. Because dental implants replace the root parts of the natural teeth (indeed, they are the only way that your dentist can do so), they help to stop the jaw bone shrinking in addition to holding your dentures securely in your mouth.

The jaw bone starts to resorb when the natural tooth roots are missing for any considerable period of time, and in turn these unwanted changes to the structure of your face alters the fit of your dentures, making them increasingly loose, unwieldy, difficult or even impossible to use.

By choosing denture stabilisation with dental implants at our Leicester dental clinic, you can prevent these problems from happening, or improve the situation if bone loss has already begun.

Common issues experienced by people whose dentures have loosened include:

Problems eating a healthy diet and getting good nutrition because of being limited to soft foods.
Altered speech, difficulty speaking with clarity.
Denture sore mouth when dentures repeatedly rub the gums.
Severely dented confidence if your teeth become prone to falling out in public, potentially restricting your social life.
Dental implants can solve all of these problems. These titanium tooth roots are put in direct contact with the jaw bone under local anaesthetic at our Leicester clinic, and because they are osteoconductive new bone material and blood vessels will readily grow up around them.

Once integration is complete, your Leicester implant dentist will attach your new dentures to abutments on top of your dental implants, restoring all the function of a natural set of teeth.

Dental implants have a success rate of more than 90% – it’s time to regain your freedom.
