Dental implants in Leicester: how it works

The placement of dental implants requires a minor operation, which is carried out by Duncan here at our modern Leicesterdental practice. In most cases only local anaesthetic is required for this procedure.

We use the Wand pain-free injection system here at our Leicester clinic, and also offer treatment under conscious sedation for patients who are nervous or dental phobic.

Once they are in position, your dental implants act as replacements for the roots of a lost tooth or teeth. Made from titanium, which is very compatible with the human body, your implants will form a strong, permanent bond with your bone. After a healing period (typically a few months) your permanent new teeth are attached on top. Your dentist may fit temporary teeth during the healing period so you needn’t fear being toothless.

For a single missing tooth we will place a single implant with a crown attached. For multiple or all missing teeth, a series of implants will be placed and a bridge or denture will be fitted.

The long-term success rate of dental implants is upwards of 90%.
