The main issue with traditional dentures is that they only replace the crowns of the teeth (as do traditional bridges). Problems arise because when the tooth roots are missing for any significant period of time, the jaw bone starts to shrink back. This both alters the fit of your dentures, making them increasingly loose, unwieldy, and impossible to use, and also affects the appearance of your face as your bone structure changes.
