In fact, implants are titanium tooth roots, and they are placed in direct contact with your jaw bone under local anaesthetic. Once there, they will instantly start to integrate with the bone, keeping it strong and healthy.

It’s a shrinking jaw bone, caused by the loss and non-replacement of the natural tooth roots, that make lead to your dentures becoming loose in the first place. Loose dentures can seriously restrict your diet, can change your speech, and can cause a huge amount of damage to your self-confidence.

Here’s how treatment works. . .

At your initial implant consultation, your dentist will assess how many implants you will need. In most cases at our Leicester clinic between four and eight implants are placed per jaw. Once they are in position they will be left to heal for a few months, during which time they will integrate with the jaw bone.

In most cases you will be able to continue wearing your old dentures during the healing period, after your Leicester dentist has adjusted them. You shouldn’t wear them for the first few days after implant surgery, in order to give your gums time to heal themselves.

After your dental implants have sufficiently integrated with your jaw bone, you will be called back to our Leicester clinic to have your permanent new dentures attached. Whilst you will be able to take them out for cleaning, they will otherwise stay exactly where they should, enabling you to get out there and enjoy life once more, free of slipping dentures for good.
